Ekaterina Frolova studied violin at the St. Petersburg Conservatory under Antonina Kazarina. She later moved to Vienna, where she took advanced classes with Michael Frischenschlager at the University of Music and Performing Arts. She also attended masterclasses with Zakhar Bron, Igor Oistrakh, and others. Frolova has won several prizes, including at the Louis Spohr Competition in Weimar (1998), the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (2002), the Fritz Kreisler Competition in Vienna (2010), and the Osaka International Music Competition (2012). She performs with orchestras across Europe, Russia, and China. A dedicated chamber musician, she collaborates with artists such as pianist Vesselin Stanev and is a co-founder of the Vienna Vision Trio. Ekaterina Frolova has been a member of the Vienna State Opera Orchestra since 2015 and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra since 2018. She plays a Nicola Gagliano violin from 1755.





Vesselin Stanev, originally from Varna, Bulgaria, studied piano at the Sofia Academy of Music before continuing his training with Dmitri Bashkirov at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, and with Alexis Weissenberg at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris. He also received further mentorship from Peter Feuchtwanger in London. Stanev is a prizewinner of both the Moscow Tchaikovsky Competition and the Marguerite Long - Jacques Thibaud Competition. He regularly performs in prestigious European venues, including Wigmore Hall in London, the Berlin Philharmonie, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, and Salle Gaveau in Paris. His performances also take him to the Nordic countries, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, Russia, and Japan. A passionate chamber musician, he frequently collaborates with artists such as violinist Ekaterina Frolova, flutist Eva Oertle, and cellist Zoltán Despond. Stanev has released numerous recordings with labels including RCA, Sony Classical, and the Bulgarian label Gega New.
